Countrywide Library of Medicine Director, Patricia Flatley Brennan, RN, PhD, has named Stephen Sherry, PhD, as Acting Director, Countrywide Center for Biotechnology Data (NCBI) at the Countrywide Library of Medicine (NLM) successful March 31, 2020.
As Acting Director of NCBI, Dr. Sherry oversees a substantial suite of on line methods for biological data and information, including the GenBank® nucleic acid sequence database and the PubMed database of citations and abstracts for printed daily life science journals. He is also dependable for developing and running all NCBI manufacturing services, with method parts spanning literature, sequences, chemistry, medical exploration, and healthcare genetics.
Dr. Sherry also leads an NLM method to migrate NCBI’s major resource, the Sequence Read Archive, into the cloud with the transfer and administration of petabyte-scale sequence information on two commercial cloud platforms. He conducts exploration on the architecture of inhabitants genetic data to ensure human genetic data units are both helpful to researchers and respectful to the privacy of examine contributors.
